Our final event took place on 14 May from 10:00 to 15:30 CET in a virtual setting. It proved to be a lively interactive exchange and we thank all the participants from over 14 countries for their valuable input, contributions and ideas. Programme leaders or course directors are the main target group of the EnhanceIDM project. Programme leaders play a central role in higher education institutions: They are very often interface and contact point between and for students, academic and administrative staff. They are accountable for the academic health of their programmes and usually they are responsible for the development of curricula. More information on the tasks and role of Programme Leaders is provided in the paper: Functional diversity of programme leaders in four European countries.<\/a>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n The project builds on the HEAD Wheel (Higher Education Awareness for Diversity). You might also be interested in the article “Diversity management at the tertiary level: an attempt to extend existing paradigms<\/a>” (Gaisch et al 2018).<\/p>\n The DIVE-strategy may help to uncover implicit biases towards certain groups of people. You will find a short introductory video HERE<\/a>.<\/p>\n An overview on these interlinked concepts is provided in the presentation “HEAD for and DIVE into Diversity Management<\/a>“.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”908″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n The intersectionality of our students and the increasing success of national widening participation initiatives means that now, more than ever before, we should take the position that all our students are \u2018becoming\u2019 rather than \u2018being\u2019. More ideas and suggestions on this development can be found in the presentation “IDM is not a minority issue”<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”918″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n During the conference a short insight into the data was provided in the presentation “Programme Leaders\u2019 attitudes and\u00a0Approaches towards IDM<\/a>“. You can find more information about the survey in the conference paper “Programme leaders\u2019 attitudes towards inclusion and diversity management<\/a>” (Welp-Park & Preymann, 2018)[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”910″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n Multi-media resources and web-based-trainings, such as video sequences or interactive content, are a useful tool to illustrate what harm diversity-insensitive behaviour can cause. Watching these videos can contribute to recognising the potential and added value of diversity-sensitive management and teaching practices. The videos are accessible via the EnhanceIDM website under Multi-media resources on IDM scenarios in higher education<\/a>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n The training programme is set up to improve programme leader\u2019s diversity management competences and to show PLs how to either newly develop diversity-sensitive curricula or how to adapt existing curricula to this aim.<\/p>\n The HEAD CD framework<\/strong> serves as a useful structure for the e-learning course. It describes the entire student lifecycle from access to final student success and may certainly qualify as a helpful frame of reference for the holistic process of making curricula more inclusive. They are a useful way of approaching \u00a0and reflecting diversity related issues within your own study programmes.
